About

Wife, mom and writer.

Also, lion tamer, fire extinguisher and master juggler.

I’m a published novelist and worked for more than 30 years as a professional writer for magazines, universities, corporations and other organizations.

One of my earliest assignments as a freelancer was covering a new surgical radiation technique for destroying brain tumors, during which I was permitted to don scrubs and observe inside the operating room. Since then, my reporting and creative nonfiction has appeared in dozens of magazines, including Business WeekThe WriterPhoenixRaising Arizona Kids and ASU Research.

All Different Kinds of Free, my debut historical novel, was awarded the Freedom in Fiction Prize. Peculiar Savage Beauty was named 2018 Arizona Book of the Year. Bitter Thaw was named 2023 Best Indie Book by Shelf Unbound magazine and received a Foreword INDIES Gold Award for Historical Fiction in 2024. I’m currently at work on my fourth novel.

Phoenix is home and provides year-round opportunity to be outdoors – hiking, swimming, gardening, or reading a book on the patio. It’s where I grew up, fell in love, raised a family and chased my dreams. While I love to travel and discover new places, I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
